When the first one is due

  • LLC: Before the first day of the anniversary month in the year after formation
  • Corporation: Before the first day of the anniversary month in the year after incorporation
  • Nonprofit: Before the first day of the anniversary month in the year after incorporation

Taxes due on their own schedule

  • Corporate franchise tax (Corporation): $0 — Franchise tax on paid-in capital (0.1% annually; $1.50 per $1,000 at formation; historically $25 minimum), but for periods on or after January 1, 2025 the first $10,000 of franchise tax liability is exempt, so a small corporation typically owes nothing.
